Bee Inclusive Therapy

Counselling, Psychotherapy including EMDR

Hello & Welcome!

Coming to counselling/psychotherapy/EMDR can be scary, overwhelming, exciting. I offer a space where you can be seen and heard, without judgment, with warmth, compassion, empathy and opennness. This space is yours, whether you are wanting to share your experiences of anxiety, past experiences of psychosis, experiences of grief, relationships, traumatic experiences, current stresses, your sense of self, experiences related to neurodiversity, or whatever it is you that is bringing you here. This space is for you.

The foundation of my practice is Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy where I aim to see each person as their own person, with empathy, non-judgment and openness as well as holding awareness of community and society. This approach aims for you to share what it is that is bringing you here. The therapeutic relationship between you and I is important, however, it is ok if this takes time, I work at the pace that works for you. From this foundation, I tailor my approach depending on what is bringing you here, intergrating aspects other therapeutic theories and approaches (Jungian-depth work, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, compassion focused therapy, emotion focused therapy, family systems etc), in a supportive and collaborative way. This approach is more organic, non-prescrptive and non-directive somewhat. I may interject at some points and sometimes provide analyses and strategies, depending on what works for you. There is never any pressure for you to adhere to those strategies.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) therapy, focuses on the somatic (bodily), cognitive (thoughts/beliefs) and emotional aspects of traumatic experiences based on the past, present or perceived future. These experiences can be one off occurances, and/or developmental and/or complex (long term, recurring), whereby your sense of control, power, self-efficacy/esteem (self-adequacy for example), responsibility and/or safety were significantly compromised. EMDR can be the sole focus of our sessions, or it can be combined with the above counselling/psychotherapy to pace and process in a way that works for you. EMDR itself is more focused on traumatic experiences so may feel more direct at times.

All my experience comes from working in the NHS, various counselling agencies and privately for over nine years. I am experienced with people experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD/C-PTSD/developmental trauma, experiences relating to Neurodiversity, experiences relating to physical health conditions (FND, fibromyalgia, long COVID etc), grief and loss, experiences of all types of abuse (familial, relational, employment) past/present, to name a few. I embrace regular supervision, self-reflection and continued learning to provide the most effective counselling/psychotherapy I can.

Personally, I aim to be approachable, human as well as professional. I am Autistic and have ADHD, I am part of the LGBTQ+ community, and have various chronic health issues.
